“In HER Element” is a collection of contemporary realism portraits that aim to celebrate the multifaceted essence of female spirits and aliveness and their connection to the environments that empower them. Beyond the physical spaces that we can touch and feel, these “elements” represent the passions, pursuits, and energies that ignite the spirit and fuel infinite journeys.

Christa Forrest on her works: Through my art, I hope to capture the essence of these connections, painting portraits that go beyond mere representation. Each portrait tells a story that depicts a setting that resonates with an inner world, a landscape, a dream, or maybe a world we hope to be in.

This exhibition is not just about showcasing individual stories, but also about sparking a dialogue. It invites viewers to consider the unique “elements” that shape a woman’s story and to reflect on their own relationship with the environments that nurture and inspire themselves.

The show features self portraits as well as a portrait of fellow creative, Alicia Cobb. Using symbolism and cultural cues to tell own our inner story. We find so much of our inspiration from the elements that surround us.

By exploring these themes, I hope to create a space where viewers can not only appreciate the artistry, but also engage in a deeper conversation about identity, empowerment, and the creative influences that shape who we are. And, most importantly, how our stories can provide connection to others.
