Meet this week’s top Realism Today Ambassador, Miguel Madariaga.
Born in Mexico City, Miguel Madariaga attended the Real Academia de San Carlos from 1999 to 2002. He took individual classes with Raúl Grifaldo in Coyoacán, México City, for four years. His first solo exhibition was in 2014, and in the same year his book Codigos de una Existencia was published by Galerias Castillo, where he is a permanent exhibitor. He received a merit award in the arts from the Legislative Assembly in Mexico City in 2018.
“The saint who protects against plague, but now it’s a plague under human control, like in the book 1984. The absurd attempt to protect himself with a mask is useless; he will be consumed anyway.”
“It’s easier to live with eyes closed or consciously cheated, but the reality doesn’t change at all.”
