Dear Realist,

I’ve rarely met a realism artist who doesn’t get pretty serious when the conversation turns to their love of painting figures, portraits, still life, landscapes, floral, and all things that are “real” to them.

Just to see what I’d get, I entered “what do realism artists want” into Google search. I liked the first one I saw, so I’m sharing it with you here. But there were so many other descriptions, pages, entries, interpretations, articles, personal stories, and opinions that I quickly closed the internet or I knew I’d be reading about realism art for the rest of the day!

Here’s that first description I saw:

“… [Realism] sought to portray real and typical contemporary people and situations with truth and accuracy, and not avoiding unpleasant or sordid aspects of life.” – Wikipedia page called “Realism (art movement)”

If you’re a realism artist and you live and breathe to draw and paint the truth of what is, you’re most likely very serious about learning more…

  • Keeping your work real, but not like a photo
  • Giving your impression, but without going too far
  • Speaking the truth in your own artistic voice
  • Creating a signature look as you grow in your art hobby or career

Serious Learning for Serious Realism Artists

There was a need in the art community to create training for those of us who are already realism artists, and for those who want to be.

Because of the complexities of realism, taking a class here and there, over the course of many years, will never get you where you want to be.

In full transparency, I wasn’t sure how well the first virtual Realism Live would go. Can we successfully teach realism virtually?

Realism Art: Come, Learn, Grow

We created the first Realism Live event and got the word out.

We received a crazy amount of registrations quickly.

Artists and enthusiasts attended from their own homes or studios. They learned from the world class faculty we had lined up. They built a beautiful community and support network for themselves. They made lifelong friendships. They continue to grow and learn from what they experienced at Realism Live — and I’m confident you will, too!

So, can we successfully teach realism virtually?

YES! I would love nothing more than for you to join us at Realism Live 2021, coming to you VIRTUALLY November 10-13, 2021.

Hands down, there is no better way than Realism Live for current and future realism artists (that’s you!) to learn from so many of the world’s top realism artists and instructors within a short amount of time, apply the new knowledge and skill gained, and seriously skyrocket your art.
