Realism Live Faculty Spotlight > Lisa Egeli paints the people and places we care about most. She has traveled and painted on location around the world, exhibited widely in museums, and has been featured in magazines and books, including in Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine as one of “Today’s Masters.” She is a third-generation artist in a family of artists, and her formal training was at Chicago’s American Academy of Art.

Lightening Round Q&A With Realism Live Artist Lisa Egeli

Q: What recurring themes and techniques do you see in your work?
A: I’m drawn to a sense of immediacy with a subject, a feeling of immersion in nature.

Q: Pleas tell us about the inspiration for one of your landscape paintings.
A: “Together” was inspired by many mornings at the beach, where shore birds and surfers and others who love or need the ocean gather for sustenance.

Q: What advice would you give to other artists?
A: Love both the process and the result, be patient. Work very hard, know your subject. Never give up and never get complacent, stay true to your own voice.

Q: What do you plan to present at Realism Live this year?
A: A panel discussion about effects of the pandemic on an art career, exhibiting, and selling.
