“I really enjoyed the variety of cars in Cuba,” says artist Angela Sung (angelasung.com). “I had never tried to paint something metallic in a more diffuse lighting situation, and so I decided to tackle that in this painting. I really enjoyed simplifying the car to capture it’s essence and I also focused on the subtle color changes within the surface.”
Angela is on the faculty for the inaugural Gouache Live online art conference, coming up August 23, 2025, where she’ll help simplify the process of choosing colors. She said she plans to demonstrate a mountain landscape, and will focus on how to put down “quick and accurate colors.” We hope to see you there!
